Marek has worked in the Gulf markets for over 30 years including 20 years of senior leadership roles covering Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Oman and Bahrain as well as overseeing businesses in East African markets.

Currently Managing Director at Truebell (a large FMCG and Beverage distribution group in the UAE), he has previously worked for global organizations such as The Coca-Cola company and Saatchi Saatchi as well as local private organizations and more recently as Group CEO and Board Member of a publicly listed company in Bahrain.

Marek's Senior Leadership roles have covered a wide variety of organisations from family owned, start ups through to publicly listed organisations all at different stages of their life cycle. This gives him tremendous insight into the skills and nuances of what it takes to be a successful leader and how much the required competencies, skills sets and style can vary dependent on scale, ambition, culture and life stage of the organisation

With a career that started in marketing and communications evolving through commercial operations and people management, he can be considered an authority across the beverages, FMCG and hospitality industries and has significant experience in retail and F+B development.

Marek has over 20 years experience managing and leading the largest beverage distribution and retail organisations in the Gulf. He is well respected within the industry and has worked closely with the worlds leading houses and brands including Diageo, Heineken, LVMH. Bacardi and Brown Forman.

Marek developed and implemented the award winning Le Clos fine wine and luxury spirit travel retail concept and has worked on developing greenfield beverage distribution and retail businesses as well as regional mergers and acquisitions within the sector.

As Founder and Managing Director, I (Richard Andrew Ian Cowley) have a passion for growing businesses, helping teams and individuals grow and achieve, believing that it will ultimately help economies grow through commercial success.

As a globally experienced HR leader, I have spent most of my illustrious thirty-eight-year HR career delivering the organisational aspirations of large global MNC companies including military, aerospace, fast-moving consumer goods, automation machines, logistics, and supply chain. These have included the Royal Navy, British Aerospace, DHL, Coca-Cola, Kimberly-Clark, and Tetra Pak. By contrast, my SME experience exposure has been in the food, health and beverage, office equipment, construction, machine and automation, cycling, jewellery, multi-level marketing personal care, AI HR software, recruitment and outsourcing; information technology and software founder of my own heavily invested HR technology start up.

I have been responsible for providing HR functional leadership and transactional support for over 20,000 employees of all levels and job types in country, regional, and global roles covering more than twenty-five countries. I have developed, led, and facilitated over forty global, regional, national or functional transformation change programs in various project, leadership and workforce contexts. I have led over fifty business focused OGSM business strategy and performance alignment, coaching and feedback sessions.

I have been a recruitment specialist at all levels of recruitment as well as a LinkedIn recruiter. I was hired in developing and emerging markets including Asia, the Middle East, North Africa, Oceania, the USA, and the UK. I have led and been a team member in the development of global/local human resource system platforms and later in my career started my own HR technology company to deliver a truly exceptional recruitment platform, raising over 2 million dollars. My key capabilities and passions are business opportunity delivery, organisational capability development, digital application, and transformation (machine learning, data science, natural language programming, chatbot, SaaS), talent and performance management, and very hands-on delivery. I am very passionate about helping people, technology, and process innovation, and making a social impact.
